Award Categories of the National Competition “Charitable Ukraine–2025”

Major (Collective) nominations / categories

  1. Charity of large business – applications evaluate charitable activities of business entities classified as large enterprises under Ukrainian legislation.
  2. Charity of medium and small enterprises – applications evaluate charitable activities of business entities classified as medium and small enterprises.
  3. Charity of international business (International corporate charity) – applications evaluate charitable activities of international companies and Ukrainian businesses with significant foreign capital that have contributed to the protection and support of Ukraine.
  4. Corporate charity – applications evaluate charitable activities carried out by teams of private legal entities, institutions, and organizations, including those established under public law.
  5. Collective volunteering – applications evaluate volunteering activities of private legal entities, institutions, and organizations (including public ones), as well as informal civic or volunteer communities that engage their employees or volunteers.
  6. Nationwide charity – applications evaluate activities of charitable organizations operating at the national (all-Ukrainian) level.
  7. Regional charity – applications evaluate activities of charitable organizations carried out within no more than three regions (including the city of Kyiv).
  8. Local charity – applications evaluate activities of charitable, non-governmental, or volunteer organizations registered and operating in small settlements (excluding Kyiv, regional centers, and the city of Kryvyi Rih).
  9. Charity in healthcare – applications evaluate charitable and volunteer activities in the field of healthcare.
  10. Charity in education and science – applications evaluate charitable and volunteer activities in education, science, and research.
  11. Charity in culture and arts – applications evaluate charitable and volunteer activities in the fields of culture, arts, and cultural heritage preservation.
  12. Charity in the social sphere – applications evaluate activities in social protection, social services, poverty alleviation, care and guardianship.
  13. Charity for the protection and support of children – applications evaluate initiatives, programs, projects, and activities focused on protecting children’s rights, providing assistance to children, and supporting children’s homes, residential institutions, and family-type homes.
  14. Charity in ecology and environmental protection – applications evaluate charitable and volunteer activities related to environmental protection and ecology.
  15. Charity supporting Ukraine’s defense – applications evaluate charitable and volunteer activities that support service members, enhance defense capabilities and mobilization readiness, and protect the population in emergencies in both peace and wartime.
  16. Charity by the non-governmental sector – applications evaluate charitable and volunteer activities of non-governmental organizations (excluding children’s and youth organizations), registered under Ukrainian legislation, as well as informal civic communities.
  17. “Good starts with You” (Children’s charity) – applications evaluate children’s and school-based charitable activities and/or socially important initiatives implemented by formal or informal children’s and/or school organizations (communities).
  18. Youth charity initiatives – applications evaluate charitable activities and/or socially important initiatives implemented by formal or informal youth and student organizations (communities).
  19. Charitable event of the year – applications evaluate charitable events (projects, programs, etc.) implemented and completed during the year, aimed at supporting specific groups and involving a designated fundraising effort for targeted use of charitable funds.
  20. “Platform of good” – applications evaluate activities of charitable organizations (funds, NGOs) and other formal or informal structures that organize or facilitate fundraising for charitable projects (campaigns), but do not implement these projects themselves.
  21. Synergy of good: effective partnership – applications evaluate best practices and sustainable partnerships in implementing charitable projects between legal entities (e.g. registered charitable organizations, charitable foundations, charitable societies, non-governmental organizations).
  22. Innovations in charitable activity – applications evaluate charitable foundations and NGOs that employ original, innovative tools and mechanisms in resource mobilization and implementation of charitable activities.

Individual nominations

  1. Philanthropist of the year – applications evaluate charitable activities of individuals (citizens of Ukraine, stateless persons, or foreign citizens) who provided or mobilized financial and non-financial donations.
  2. Volunteer of the year – applications evaluate the individual volunteer activities of natural persons.
  3. Charity sector manager of the year – applications evaluate the work of managers of charitable organizations and foundations (executive directors, heads of departments such as PR, HR, fundraising, etc.) who have demonstrated the most effective management in the nonprofit sector during the year. (A separate application is required via the designated link.)

Special nominations

  1. Public’s Choice Philanthropist (based on online voting) – a special nomination of the “Charitable Ukraine” National Competition in which both nominations and evaluations are conducted by citizens of Ukraine through online voting.
    • Any organization or individual engaged in charitable (philanthropic) activities in Ukraine may be nominated.
    • The winner is determined through an online voting procedure announced annually by the Organizing Committee.
    • Two winners are selected: one individual and one legal entity with the highest number of votes.
    • A person or organization that has already received this award cannot be nominated again.
    • For this nomination, the Organizing Committee accepts separate applications containing only the nominee’s biography and a description of their activities.
  2. Media about charity. Media and charity – applications evaluate the activities of media outlets in covering and promoting charitable and volunteer initiatives, real changes and positive impact, as well as their own charitable and volunteer projects (media foundations, campaigns, or projects implemented by media or journalists).
  3. Assistance from abroad (International Support for Ukraine) – an international nomination within the Global Stage of the Competition.
    • Applications evaluate charitable activities and support for Ukraine carried out by charitable organizations (foundations), other formal or informal structures, or individuals residing and/or registered abroad.
    • Applications in this nomination automatically participate in the international/foreign stage of the Competition, if such a stage is held in the nominee’s country of residence or activity.
